2013 IBSF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Zhou Yuelong the fifteen years old wonder cueist from China won the 2013 IBSF World Amateur Championship at Daugavpils, Latvia.
Zhou defeated 2011 finalist Lee Walker (Newbridge) by seven frames to four in a tense semi-final.
It was a disappointing championship for the other Welsh players in the Men’s event.
In the Masters (over 40s) event Ian Sargeant (Bargoed) beat defending champion Darren Morgan (Newbridge) in the quarter-final before surprisingly losing to Australian veteran Glen Wilkinson by five frames to one.
Wilkinson was then crushed six frames to nil by Thailand’s Phisit Chandsri in a one-sided final.
Belgium’s Wendy Jans regained the Ladies title.
