Mens Event Three - Finals Report
Mens Event Three played to a conclusion on the 6th December down at Snooker World, Ammanford.
Quarter Finals.
Alex Taubman/Richard King.
A very tight match throughout. A nice break of 89 by Richard only to snooker himself on the Yellow to stop a Century break. The match at 2-2 led to a deciding frame, a kick for Alex on the final red left Richard an opportunity, however finishing straight on the blue left him a rest shot on the pink which he missed, leaving the pink over the yellow pocket to let Alex in to secure the win.
Rhydian Richards/Kishan Hirani.
This was a no pressure match for Rhydian with no breaks of note from either player, bouts of safety was the order of the day. Kishan was having an off day, not playing the standard we are used to seeing from him. Rhydian went out an easy winner at 3-0.
Jamie Clarke/Tyler Rees.
Jamie started the match well by winning the first frame. Tyler levelling frame two. That's how it continued to 2-2. When Jamie showed his greater experience in the final frame by opening the pack with a plant and knocking in a break of 76 to win 3-2.
Jack Bradford/Sam Thomas.
Jack played well in this match. Sam gave to many chances away and Jack took advantage of his opportunities knocking in breaks of 43 and 62 to take a 3-0 win.
Semi Finals.
Jack Bradford/Rhydian Richards.
Jack started well taking the first two frames from Rhydian including a 50 break in the process. Rhydian raised his game by taking the next two frames to level at 2-2. Rhydian showed his vast experience in the final frame by playing some excellent safety play to win on the colours at 3-2.
Jamie Clarke/Alex Taubman.
Jamie seemed to come alive in this match to take the first two frames which included a nice 83 break. Alex came back to take the next, but Jamie wasn't going away and with a break of 46 to clear to the black was enough to take the match 3-1
Final.
Jamie Clarke/Rhydian Richards.
Jamie started off by winning frame one. Rhydian had the look of determination in his eyes as he took the next two frames. Jamie won frame four. In frame five Rhydian knocked in a few small breaks and a bout of safety play to keep Jamie off the table. Rhydian had 70 on the board before Jamie had potted his first red. This was asking to much, and Rhydian ran out a clear winner at 3-2. Rhydian has now qualified to play in the European Championships in Poland.
