February Committee Meeting

February's committee meeting took place last week. Below are summary extracts from the meeting, which may be of interest to some members.

• March meeting rescheduled until after EBSA Event, now to be 23rd March 2017. Proposed that the 2017 AGM be held on 21st May 2017, 2pm, Sofia Gardens.
• Keith Thomas has informed the Secretary that he does not wish to continue as Treasurer after this season. Keith will continue with the preparation of the Tournament Calendar.
• Following the excellent performances by both wildcards and widespread media attention, the Committee have discussed reviewing the qualifying criteria with World Snooker to get agreement for a similar approach for next year for talented youngsters.
• Welsh Championship & Top Team communication Update: The Committee agreed that the dates outlined for completion of rounds allowed sufficient time for completion of matches and would remain as tabled. 
• Top Team Semi-finals to be played by 18th March 2017
  • Pontarddulais Conservatives v Swansea Dockers
  • Red Triangle v Rhymney Valley
• WBSA have been approached about competing in The Raeburn Cup, a county standard competition. This year’s event takes place in Liverpool on March 25th and requires 12 players. It was felt that this may ideally suit the Top Team champions, but that this year was too short notice given Mens Event 5 Regional Qualifying is the following day. This is to be reviewed for next season.
