Under 14s Event 4 Results

The last event of the Under 14 season determined the Welsh Champion and who would sit in the top 6 in the rankings and represent Wales in the Celtic Challenge against Ireland this summer. All the first round matches went to deciding frames with notably Ryan Davies (age 6) winning his first match and Riley Powell (age 8) narrowly losing to the experienced Harvey Rees.

Once we got into the Quarter Finals it was the more experienced players that came through with the exception of the improving Oliver Bridle who knocked out his top 4 ranked opponent Ben Massey. In the Semi Final it was the currnet Top 2 seeded players who went through to compete for the title of Welsh Champion, with Liam Davies winning and completeing the season Grand Slam.

Once all the Ranking points were added together it showed that there was a tied 6th position in the overall points for the season between Oliver Briffett-Payne and Jacob Boyle. This prompted a Play Off for a place in the Welsh Team for the Celtic Challenge. A very tight and tense match was eventually won 3 frames to 2 in favour of Oliver, but Jacob can be proud of his performance on the day.

The Plate competition featured a Final which was contested by the 2 equal 6th Ranked players for the season. This match become not only the Final of the Plate, but also the deciding Play Off place for the Top 6 end of season ranking, wIith Oliver Briffett-Payne taking the trophy in a hard fought 3 frames to 2 victory over Jacob Boyle. Both players can be proud of their season and look forward to next year.

The Top ranked Players are 1. Liam Davies, 2. Bradley Tyson, 3. Thierry Cullinane, 4. Ben Massey, 5. Oliver Bridle, 6. Oliver Briffett-Payne. Good luck to you all in Ireland.
