The Celtic Challenge 2018
A slightly disappointing result for a very young Welsh team in the Celtic challenge v Rep.Ireland. after a long day in sweltering conditions Wales went down by 57 frames to 87. All the lads enjoyed the experience which will stand them in good stead for the future. Under 14s captain Liam Davies was unbeaten all day, drawing 3 and winning 3. He also made the days highest break of 79
A special mention should also go to Oliver Phillips, who dislocated his shoulder in the days leading up to the event, but who put the discomfort behind him in order to represent his country just as his father Byron has done earlier this year.
The result may not have gone our way, but the importance of this junior competition cannot be understated. Playing at a higher standard is the surest way to improve match play and playing for your country is just reward for to boys when thy compete so hard each year.
