Masters Event 4

Redz was again the venue for the Masters, this time being Event 4. As ever, the 40+ category is keenly contested and full of capable contenders.

In the top half of the draw, the running was made by Steve Thomas and Mark Fenton, with each coming through hard matches against Tony Morgan and Gavin Lewis before facing off in the first semi final. Unsurprisingly the match went the distance with Mark taking the tie 3-2.

In the lower half, Alan Hurley saw off Neil Jones, Alun Squire and Rhydian Richards to reach the semis. His opponent was to be Darren Morgan, who was in fine form through his 3 earlier matches, all 3-0 wins with a string of breaks including a 104 in his opening match against Jason Tucker. Alan was in no mood to roll over and took the semi to the deciding frame before Darren booked his place in the final.

The final was a cracking match all around. Darren made it 3 Masters titles of the 4 so far this season with a 3-1 win, topping the rankings with almost twice the number of points as his nearest rival.
