Masters Event 2 - Result

The second Masters event of this season took place at Redz, Cwmbran with a field of 35 entries.

In the top half of the draw, Don Newcombe was in fine form and only dropped a single frame on his way to the Quarter Finals, where he face simon Williams who had played some excellent snooker in two 3-0 wins against very capable opponents before losing out 3-1 to Don. Gavin Lewis had a hard run to the quarters, nearly losing out to Byron Philips. Gavin faced Rhydian Richards, Rhydian continuing his fine run of the day with a 3-1 win to get him into the final.

The bottom half of the drawfeatured some incredibly close encounters. Khurram Khan was unlucky to lose out 3-2 to John Mills, who booked his semi final spot with a controlled display. Darren Morgan however was in scintilating form, with only John able to take a single frame from him en route to the final.

The final started slowly, with both players giving each other due respect. It was Darren that carried on the way he had done all day though, leaving very little and wrapping up the title 3-0

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Darren ran in 5 big breaks on the day, 74, 95, 100, 129 and a 135 total clearance. Other notable breaks were 65 by Alan Hurley and 51 each by Khurram Khan and Wayne Morgan
