Under 16s Event 4 Results

Liam Davies triumphed at yet another event on the junior calendar by winning this the 4th under 16s tournament of the season.

Liam had an untroubled run to the final defeating Jamie Reader and Dainton Barrass 3-0. In the bottom half of the draw Oliver Briffitt-Payne beat Joseph Pinch 3-0 then the improving Zac Cosker 3-1 before a very close 3-2 win over Oliver Phillips put him into the final, Oliver also showing considerable improvement in recent months.

The final: Oliver started well taking the first frame,only for Liam to hit back to level at 1-1. The next frame was all Oliver as he led by 40 points at one stage. However his open style allowed Liam to get back into it. Needing the blue to be safe Oliver potted it and looked to be going 2-1 up but then inexplicably hit the black when only partially snookered. It was a reprieve for Liam who eventually took pink and black to win a frame he never looked like winning for a 2-1 lead. This seemed to affect Oliver and he was never able to get into the next frame as Liam won it for a 3-1 victory aided by a nice 38 break.
