Welsh Amateur Ranking Event 2 - Jack Carney Memorial - Qualifying sessions

As usual, the qualifiers took place both North and South of the Principality, with some high quality snooker played at both venues.

Performance of tthe day was a 144 total clearance by Daniel Wells in his return to Welsh ranking events, beating the highly talented Tyler Rees 3-0, then Brian Rees 3-1. Event 1 finalist Callum Lloyd was Daniel's last opponent of the day, with both players battling hard to force a decider which Daniel took, going through 3-2.

Don Newcombe had a long day, starting in the preliminary round facing Andrew Clarke (3-2) then James Facey, Zac Cosker and Alun Squire all ending 3-1 to Don.

Liam Davies's game has grown nearly as much as he has over the lockdown. His passage to the quarter finals was a 3-0 win over Jason Summerhayes, 3-1 against Joshua Sellar and 3-1 against Conor Caniff.

Alan Hurley reached his second quarter finals of the year following wins over Thomas Reed (3-2) and Allan Morgan.

Dylan Emery booked his spot in the quarters with 3-1 wins over Jay Davies, Jamie Tudor and Andy Rogers.

Final player to qualify in Llanelli was Ben Fortey, seeing off Rhydian Richards 3-0, Jake Davies by the same scoreline and improving youngster Rhys Morgans 3-1.

In Amlwch, the games were equally tight. Matthew Roberts made it through the top half of the draw, beating Bradley Ferguson and Keith Thomas 3-1, then Carl Bennett 3-0 with a scoreline that didn't really reflect how close that last match was.

Event 1 winner Alex Taubman was in fine form all day, desptching Iwan Griffiths 3-0, Robert Williams 3-0 and Steven Thomas also 3-0, with some fine breaks along the way. (LINK TO ALEXvSTEVE STREAM)
