Under 14s and Under 16s Event 2 Results
Darren Morgan's Red Triangle club played host to our u14's and 16's 2nd events of the season.
With a low number of entries in both competitions and the fact that the draw had coincidentally put the same players against each other in the 2 events, it made for a long day with some players waiting several hours before their first match.
In the U14's the 2 Quarter Final encounters saw William Gwinnell beat Jack Taylor 2 frames to 1, whilst Riley Powell beat Jay Vokes 2 v 0. Into the Semi's and Riley defeated Ryan Davies 2 v 0 and Jamie Williams securing a great win over William 2 v 1. The final, which was live streamed, saw Riley taking the spoils 3 v 0 with the first 30+ break of the day.
In the U16's Riley and Ryan met for the 2nd time, this time in the Quarter Finals, with Riley again taking the victory 3 v 1. Into the Semi's and after a long day's wait, Liam Davies overcame Riley 3 v 1 to book his spot in the final. In the other Semi's, Jamie's confidence from the U14's was clear to see and he overcame Jack Taylor 3 v 1 with some superb long potting with the rest, being appreciated not just by the parents but also Liam during his game against Riley.
So Jamie has secured his place in both finals. In the U14 final v Riley again saw some lovely log pots from both players, but in the end Riley was too strong in amongst the balls and took the match 3 v 0 with Riley not losing a single frame in the event.
Into the U16 final and a late start for Liam and Jamie, but Liam's experience came through 3 frames to 0 which included a 46 and then a 48 break in the 3rd frame to seal the win.
A long, long day with Riley and Liam victorious this time out. For Jamie and his dad, a 5 hour journey back to north Wales, but this time with 2 trophies. Throughout the entire day, the smile never left Jamie's face and to make both finals was a great achievement. It is clear to see that his passion for the game is second to none and at 9 years of age we look forward to sharing in his journey in the sport we all love. #teamwales
