Under 16s Event 3 Results
Darren Morgan's Red Triangle club played host to our 3rd u14's and 16's events of the season.
Again a low number of entries in both competitions and for the 2nd time in a row Riley Powell and Ryan Davies drew each other in both events.
In the U14's the 2 Quarter Final encounters saw Riley with a 2 v 0 win over Ryan, with Riley with breaks of 48 and 37 and Jamie Williams beat Jack Taylor 2 v 0. During these opening 2 matches, everyone in attendance all paused at 11 oclock for 2 minutes silence in remembrance of those who loss their lives for our freedom.
In the U14’s Semi-Final, Riley beat William Gwinnell 2 v 0 with Riley hitting a 50 break in the 1st. Jamie then came back from 1 nil down to beat Jay Vokes 2 v 1.
As the majority of players had entered both events, the U16’s started at 1pm, with Jamie coming back from 1 nil down to beat William 3 v 1, though William didn’t realize in the 4th frame that he was already 8 ahead before fouling on the black and giving the frame to Jamie. Riley dispatched Ryan in less than an hour with a 3 v 0 win.
Into the U16’s Semi’s and Liam’s steady performance beat Riley 3 v 1. In the other semi’s Jamie again came back having lost the opening frame taking the spoils against Jack Taylor 3 v 1 and in both frames 3 and 4 turning round a 20 point deficit on the colours.
Into our finals and firstly the U14’s which started at 5pm saw a repeat of event 2 with Riley against Jamie. Some great single pots from Jamie, but Riley secured the 3 v 0 win which included a 41 break in the 2nd frame.
In the U16’s final, again a repeat of event 2 saw Liam against Jamie with Liam making breaks of 70 and 34 to storm into a 2 nil lead. The 3rd frame saw Jamie with some great pots using the rest, but Liam’s experience came through to take the win 3 v 0
Another long day with Riley and Liam victorious again. For Jamie however double back to back finals in both events and he should be very proud of his achievements having travelled down that day. Although very tired, Jamie’s smile never left his face all day and again collecting 2 trophies is some comfort to his dad Ben and Jamie’s 5 hour trip back home to north Wales.
