Welsh Men's Event 1 (Qualifier)
The qualifying rounds for the first Men's event of the season took place at Snooker World, Ammanford and Pockets, Newport.
The players relished the excellent conditions at both clubs producing high quality matches and many breaks.
David John (Bridgend), Stephen Ellis (Swansea) and Duane Jones (Mountain Ash) qualified from the West area while Lee Walker (Newbridge), Rhydian Richards (Merthyr) and Kishan Hirani (Cardiff) were the East area qualifiers.
John and Jones were comfortable winners of their matches but Ellis recovered from two-nil down to beat Kristian Phelps who had earlier made a break of 81.
Despite recording the highest break of the day (91) Adam Jones (Merthyr) failed to qualify.
These players will be joined by North Wales qualifiers Gareth Allen and Jack Bradford for the finals to be played at the Terry Griffiths Matchroom on October 16 that 10.30am.
